SEWING FOR SPRING

DAVID JACKSON | SEWING TIPS | APRIL 13, 2022

NOW is the time to be rejuvenated and start those projects you’ve been waiting all winter to do!  Marshall Dry Goods believes this is the best time EVER to start on fresh, new spring sewing projects. Here are some ideas for you to consider - and remember, we have all the fabric you would ever need for any project!

YELLOW MELLOW

The use of yellow fabric is becoming more and more popular these days. Simple. Clean. Stunning. Spring is all about color - and a fresh outfit in yellow can’t be beat! Consider sewing a dress or skirt, complemented with a matching purse! Sew one for yourself and one for your granddaughter while you’re at it! Marshall has several patterns with yellow vibes to choose from. If you’re undecided, our staff can help guide you down the right road!

NO KIDDING!

Don’t forget the baby! Simple ideas include small outfits accented with knitted bunny ear hats and wraps. This time of year is also perfect for including the kids in your spring projects! Although many sewing techniques can only be done by an adult, consider leaving projects incomplete, allowing the kids to use their imaginations by adding buttons, lace, felt, etc. This is also a great way to introduce them to your craft! Who knows? The next best seamstress may be right there under your nose!

HOW BUNNY!

Springtime is also Easter time! Even when Easter is behind us, bunnies and eggs can be implemented in kitchen towels, clothing, even made into custom gift and craft tags. Let your imagination run wild!

SPRING INTO ACTION!

At Marshall Dry Goods, we pride ourselves with years of experience and expertise in helping our customers pick the right fabric for any season. The trick is to understand the properties of fabric and what makes them suitable for a particular style, as well as what makes them work for a given season. Once you have those concepts clear, it becomes much easier to open up the possibilities of fabric choice. If you know why that linen worked so well with that particular dress, you can research other fabrics that have those same qualities. Soon, you’ll be on your way to finding fabrics that suit your designs in every season.

Give us a call and let our staff help put some SPRING into your next project!
